Jeremiah 29:7 “...seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (TNIV)
We believe that the purpose of our church is the investing of our lives together with God for the welfare of others.
Jeremiah 29 contains a promise, that when we invest the most important elements of our lives, where we live, our work, and our relationships for God’s purposes with others, that he in turn blesses us. This is how we take part in God’s mission in the world, but it doesn’t come naturally to us. So often Church is something we go to to get support from, or something to help us with the rest of life, when it should be something we are part of with others, as a way of life for the sake of others.
Paul writes about this in the New Testament in Romans 12:1-2 (msg)
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (The Message)
We aspire to be a Church that encourages, supports and invites each other into this way of life. The invitation to the investing of our lives in the mission of God for others, believing that God gives us the best life we could ever have within this.
